Our new name is…
GRCB is Now
Boston Raising Powerful Musicians
WOOHOOO!
[...and the crowd goes wild!]
New name. Same Mission.
Boston RPM empowers girls, women, and gender-expansive youth and adults to believe in themselves by building a supportive community that fosters self-expression, confidence, and collaboration through music education and performance.
Our mission is to amplify the voices that are not represented, and are most often silenced in music. We strive to center people who need to take up more space in society and in the world. When this organization started as Girls Rock Campaign Boston in 2010, the focus was on girls and women who needed that space at that time, especially in the music industry. Women and girls continue to be under-represented in nearly all music settings, that that is even more true for other gender, racial, and sexual identities. To be true to our mission it only makes sense to change our name to reflect and include the multiplicity of identities we want to uplift, so that everyone who touches our organization feels included and able to be their true self without limit. We rock.
THANK YOU to all of you who participated in our name feedback survey in February and our name poll in March. YOU ROCK! A HUGE thank you to our Youth Name Change Committee, who worked for months creating the surveys, reviewing all of our responses, and ensuring our new name and logo reflect our mission, our values, and all of us that create the magic that is our community. AMAZING! We are thrilled with the new name and logo, and the youth-led, community-fed process that created them. We hope you are, too!
Thank you to Isenberg Projects for their work on the new logo and brand image, and thanks to WilmerHale for its support of the BRPM Board of Directors in making the name change legally official.
We'll be rolling out the new name through our social media, website, and other communication channels over the course of the next few weeks, so stay tuned
(and wish us luck!)
